How to choose a turtle snorkel tour
Most turtle tours visit Turtle Canyon off Waikiki, a reef where Hawaiian green sea turtles come to feed and rest. Choose by:
- Departure: right from Waikiki Beach (Three Tiki, Waikiki Sailing Tours, Pink Sails), from Kewalo Basin (Hawaii Nautical, Iruka, Go Hawaii, E Sea Diver), or from Ko Olina on the west side (Hawaii Nautical Ko Olina).
- Boat: sailing catamarans are relaxed and roomy; smaller boats get to the reef faster.
- Extras: lunch on Hawaii Nautical’s Kewalo tour, a sunrise sail with Waikiki Sailing Tours, dolphin watching from Ko Olina, or a private tour.
Morning trips usually have the calmest water. Remember to keep at least 10 feet from turtles and never touch them. Snorkel tours elsewhere are in Oahu snorkeling, and dolphins in dolphin tours.
